Notice how the first half of the Dm7 bar is an ascending arpeggio, followed by a descending Bebop scale in the second half. With the Minor Bebop scale under your fingers and in your ears, you can check out a lick that uses this scale over the iim7 chord of a iim7-V7-Imaj7 progression in the key of C major. Here is one fingering that I like to use for a two-octave D Minor Bebop Scale. Either way, the Minor Bebop Scale can be used to solo over m7 chords and their variations such as m6, mMaj7, m9 and m11. Some prefer to think of it as a Dorian mode with an added raised 7th, while others prefer to think of it as a Melodic Minor scale with the added b7th. The Minor Bebop Scale is built from two different modes, depending on which one you prefer to think of, with one added chromatic note. I will write more on this a little later.
